Mill Creek Condominiums

A self-led website redesign for a Chapel Hill condominium complex. I went into this redesign with the goal of increasing modernity, clarity, and the overall user experience.

The previous Mill Creek webpage featured a few design aspects that could be improved.

  • Static viewport width and height with excessive margins, causing the page to appear outdated.

  • Lack of a responsive design which led information to get cut off in smaller viewport sizes.

  • Small, low-quality images that are difficult to view. Images quickly alternate on the home page, leading to a poor user experience.

  • A hand-drawn, non-interactive map and directions in list form on the Location page.

  • Convoluted search and application process, lacking a filtering system, images, and direct way to inquire about units.

  • Non-functional “Need A Roommate?” feature.

  • Places responsibility on individual owners to reach out if they want to lease a unit instead of having a direct form for communication.

  • Footer is a duplication of the navigation menu.

In my redesign of the Mill Creek website, I made the design more visually appealing, highlighted selling points, and improved functionality for both potential residents and leasers.

  • Webpage design is fully responsive, with design adjustments for different viewports. No content is cut off.

  • Added a filtering system for available units, improving usability and efficiency in searching.

  • Added a page for selected units of interest with a form to directly reach out to the owner, allowing for more efficient, organized, and direct communication.

  • Embedded a Google Maps feature for directional accuracy, clarity, and customization.

  • Included a section regarding bus routes, as many students are reliant on the bus system in Chapel Hill.

  • Built a Leasing Request Form to promote direct communication with all necessary information for owners interested in leasing a unit.

  • Increased links to the Leasing page to encourage users to continue browsing units.

  • Emphasized visual imagery throughout the redesign to give viewers a better understanding of the condominiums and the surrounding neighborhood.
